Battery Basics

For optimal battery performance, please adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Store the battery within the temperature range specified in the product specifications.
  • If storing for more than 3 months, it is advisable to charge the lithium iron phosphate battery to maintain its service life.
  • To protect the battery, ensure that the discharge current does not exceed the specified maximum and the discharge voltage does not fall below the specified level.

Upon receiving the product, please carefully read the product manual. It contains essential information such as installation methods, precautions, and detailed warranty terms. For the initial use of the battery, please ensure it is fully charged before use.

Battery Safety Precautions

  • Please use the LiFePO4 battery charger specifically for that purpose.
  • Do not strike battery with any sharp edge parts, such as Ni-tabs, pins and needles.
  • Do not immerse the battery in water and seawater.
  • Do not use or leave the battery near a heat source such as fire or heater.
  • Do not reverse the position and negative terminals.
  • Do not connect the battery to an electrical outlet.
  • Do not throw the battery in fire or heat it and bend it.
  • Please tighten the battery terminals firmly and use appropriate size wiring, or it can result in overheating and battery damage
  • Do not connect the positive and negative terminals with metal object.
  • Do not transport or store the battery together with metal objects such as necklaces, hairpins etc.
  • Do not directly solder the battery and pierce the battery with a nail or other sharp object.
  • Do not directly connect the battery to a starter machine, our battery are not designed for starting engines.

Precautions for Connecting Batteries in Series

To ensure optimal performance and extend the lifespan of your Enjoybot Battery packs, we require following the steps below to BALANCE THE VOLTAGE of your battery packs before connecting them:

  1. Begin by charging each battery individually using a compatible charger. This will ensure that each battery is fully charged before proceeding to the next steps.
  2. Once all battery packs are fully charged, connect them in parallel for a period of more than 12 hours. This allows for equalization of voltage between the battery packs.
  3. After the parallel connection has been maintained for the required time, untie the parallel connection.
  4. Use a multimeter to measure the voltage of each battery pack individually. Make a note of the voltage value for each pack.
  5. Check the voltage difference between each battery pack. If the difference is ≤40mV, this indicates that the battery pack has reached a voltage balance.
  6. Once the voltage balance is achieved across all the battery packs, you can safely connect them together to achieve the desired capacity or voltage for your specific application.
  7. Once connected, charge the entire battery pack with a charger of the appropriate volts. (For example, if you connect four 12V batteries in series to form a 48V battery pack, then please use a 58.4V charger to charge the entire battery pack in order to maintain the voltage difference between each battery.)

Please note: Enjoybot battery is deep cycle battery, not designed for starting engines, it can not be used as a cranking battery due to BMS setting. When the boat's engine has started, the boat's engine needs continuous and reliable power for trolling motors, which is where enjoybot deep-cycle marine batteries come in.

An over-current protection device (circuit breaker or fuse) must be used. The surging current at the moment of start-up for trolling motors can be 5 times or more greater than the usual running current. Excessive current can cause over-current discharge and destroy the BMS beyond repair, which is not covered under Enjoybot LiFePO4 battery 10 year warranty.

State Of Charge

When determining if a lithium-iron phosphate battery has any charge remaining, first turn off the power source to the device and disconnect all wires from the battery. Next, using a voltmeter or multimeter, test the voltage of the battery.
